The Minnesota Department of Corrections (MDOC) is responsible for overseeing the state's correctional system. The MDOC operates 10 adult correctional facilities, 1 juvenile correctional facility, and 9 community correctional facilities.

To locate an inmate in the Minnesota correctional system, you can use the Inmate Locator tool on the MDOC website. To use the tool, you will need to provide the inmate's full name or offender ID number. The tool will then provide information on the inmate's location, custody status, and expected release date.

If you are trying to locate an inmate in a Minnesota county jail, you will need to contact the county sheriff's office in the county where the jail is located. Each county sheriff's office maintains its own inmate roster and may have its own inmate search tool on its website. Alternatively, you can call the sheriff's office and ask for information on how to locate an inmate.

The VINELink website allows users to search for inmates using a variety of criteria such as first name, last name, offender ID number, or date of birth. Once the search criteria is entered, VINELink will provide information about the inmate such as their current location, charges and conviction history, sentence summary, criminal court record, and any upcoming court dates.

In addition to providing access to inmate records, VINELink also allows users to register for notifications regarding any changes in an inmate’s status. This feature allows the user to receive notifications when an inmate is released, transferred, or has any other changes to their records.
